Floater Frames

Floater Frames

Our selection of canvas floater frames are cut to include a standard 1/4" float around all 4 sides of your artwork.  Just enter your artwork size and we will do the rest. Doing this makes the artwork look like it's floating inside the frame. These frames create a noticeable gap between the art and frame edge, adding a three-dimensional effect. This "floating" effect gives them their name.

Ideal for both canvas art and panels, these frames offer a modern touch and ensure full visibility of athe artwork, enhancing its display.  Add a spacer if needed to adjust the height of your artwork in the frame.  Ideally, the surface of he artwork will be at or slightly below the frame.

Learn More:The History and Appeal of Floater Frames to Artists

The Origins:

Firstly, these frames have a unique and fascinating history. They first appeared in the 20th century. Artists and galleries wanted a new way to present their work. Traditional frames often hid the edges of paintings. This new style of frame solved this problem by allowing the edges to be visible.

What Are Floater Frames?

Secondly, they create the illusion that your artwork is floating. They do not touch the edges of the painting. Instead, they sit around it, leaving a gap between the frame and the canvas. This gap creates a sense of depth and space.

Why Do Artists Love Floater Frames?

Artists love these frames for many reasons. First, they highlight the entire artwork. The visible edges add to the piece’s beauty. Additionally, these frames provide a modern and clean look. This style fits well with contemporary art. Finally, they are versatile. Floater frames can be used for paintings, prints, and even photographs.

Enhancing the Artwork

Morover, they do not compete with the artwork. Instead, they complement it. They allow the artwork to be the star. This frame style enhances the colors and details of the piece. Many artists feel that floater frames make their work look more professional.

Practical Benefits

Lastly, they offer practical benefits as well. They protect the edges of the artwork from damage. This is important for pieces that will be displayed or transported often. They are also easy to install. Many floater frames come with simple hardware that makes hanging the artwork a breeze.

In conclusion, they have a rich history and offer many benefits to artists. They provide a unique way to display art, highlighting the entire piece. The modern and clean look of floater frames makes them a popular choice among contemporary artists. If you want to give your artwork a professional and polished look, consider using floater frames. They truly make the art stand out.
